Wrong Info On Parrot Party Black

Guess the Parrot Party Black won’t be supporting NFC after all, folks. According to Parrot, the only update in the specifications is an improved battery time (in addition to the minor cosmetic change, of course), allowing you to party up to 8 hours on a single charge instead of half that amount on the white-colored version. Bummer!

Phonofone Does Not Need Power to Run

The Phonofone is a pretty unique device to have in your home these days, simply by virtue of its retro looks as well as the ability to run just fine without any power. It relies on passive amplification that instantly transforms any personal audio player and earbuds into a self-described “sculptural audio console”. Looks (and sounds) good, doesn’t it? Just be quick as this ceramic speaker sees a limited run of just 200 pieces in black, retailing for 400 Euros each.

Sims sells 100 million units — and owes me money

The Sims Is A Global Cultural Phenomenon In 60 Countries And 22 Languages Thanks To Players of The Sims Everywhere

That’s the headline of The Sims’ (a label of Electronic Arts) press release today, celebrating 100 million units sold around the world.

As my little girl, Mackenzie, is addicted to Sims and owns EVERY game, starting with the first one sold in 2000, I figure EA could spread the joy and send us a royalty check.

Sixty percent of gamers are girls, and EA was one of the first companies to clue into this. By allowing users to create their own characters and worlds, it’s created a wonderful virtual world for my baby. She loves designing new houses and cities for her lucky Sims family. Her latest game? Sims2 Pets.

While I don’t think a check is forthcoming, as a special thank you to players of The Sims, you can visit The Sims 2 on April 16th to download a “complimentary exclusive outfit for your Sims in honor of this milestone.”

Party down, Sims!

Neverending 10 percent off coupon at Best Buy

CyberNet News made a good catch recently regarding a 10 percent off coupon for Best Buy provided by the US Postal Service. The USPS provides a slew of coupons for movers (they’ll actually mail them to you if you put in an address change), but you don’t have to actually move to reap the rewards for migrants.

Now, you can simply visit the USPS website and print the coupon (image) for 10 percent off any single item. While the coupon generates an expiration date, the offer is constant, so you can guess the parameters of the next coupon. Check out the URL:

https://moversguide.usps.com/img/coupon/bestbuy/200804_clientarea.gif

The expiration on this current coupon is May 31, while the code is 200804. Each coupon is good for two months. The previous couple expired March 31 and its code was 200802. With that in mind, once May 31 rolls around, the next coupon should bare the code 200806.

So if you simply can’t wait for Newegg delivery, enjoy a perpetual 10 percent off any single item at Best Buy.

In-Steering Wheel Navigation

The In-Steering Wheel Navigation takes in-dash navigation to the next level, doing away with the need for a large display for obvious reasons but featuring a list of functions that might actually be crazy enough to be the next big thing. The In-Steering Wheel Navigation uses a computer that is connected to a central unit in your car, warming the driver of various potential hazards such as an opened door or low-tire pressure through the steering wheel. It is also compatible with the Navigon 7100 GPS navigation system, relaying important information to the 12 o’clock position on the steering wheel. In addition, the on-board sensors will enable the Navigon 7100 to gauge speed accurately, direction and the attitude of the vehicle. Which do you think is safer - glancing at the steering wheel or the dashboard?

Holodeck Coming Soon

The Fitness@home virtual training system you see here is a home-bound solution for a simulated reality facility, bringing the closest virtual-reality wizardry to ordinary homes to date. This basically allows you to perform some serious stair climbing with the majestic Everest as your perceived task, minus all the biting blizzards and cold. The outdoor training scenario, however, is limited by the program and works best when combined with a stepper, a specially designed projector and an oxygen mask that will deliver individually regulated supploes of air and scents when recreating a virtual training center. No idea on how much one of these puppies will cost though.

Moped Runs on Air

I have seen the future, and contrary to what Al Gore thinks, it is actually a convenient truth. One day, we all will drive vehicles that will run on air, and will actually produce healthy emissions instead of pollutants like carbon monoxide gases.

I had my brief glimpse into this Earth-friendly future when I heard about Jem Stansfield, a former shepherd now turned inventor who has designed an air powered bike. All Stansfield did was connect a few air canisters that are normally used by firefighters to a normal Puch moped. I suppose that sounds like an easy DIY operation, but Stansfield is a true innovator in creating one of the most environmentally sound vehicles today.

Of course, this moped can only reach a top speed of 18 mph, and can only travel for about seven minutes per canister. The canisters for this mode of transportation are quite expensive at $6 a tank at the most.

Of course, considering how much gas prices are rising, this air-powered moped might eventually be a less expensive way to travel. At least the emissions would be cleaner, and you definitely have to admit that this invention, crude as it may be, is a step in the right direction for a greener Earth. Perhaps someone will perfect this technology, and we’ll all have fresh air-powered vehicles with more cost-efficient fuel.

Super Mario Theme Played On Wine Bottles By RC Car

Take a whole bar-full of half empty wine bottles, line them up in an underground car-park and then drive a remote controlled car along the row, tapping each one in turn with a car-mounted stick to play out the theme from Super Mario Bros. Too much trouble? That’s OK. Somebody did it for you.

It’s hard to fathom how much time must have gone into this, but the feeling when the car hits its speed and the tune starts to play must have been worth every frustrating second.

HTC Touch Slide with US 3G hits the FCC

Another phone coming with details courtesy of the FCC. This time is comes with a little more detail and some good news for HTC fans here in the US. According to the FCC website the handset is called the HTC NEON300, but it appears to be the HTC Touch Dual with a slide out (from the bottom) 20-key QWERTY keyboard.

This handset has also come with not only a few good images, but also some details as well. The HTC NEON300 will feature 2.6-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD card slot with 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM. The NEON300 is powered by a 400Mhz processor running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The really good news is that the NEON300 will offer support for US 3G coverage on the 850/1900Mhz bands.

Typical with FCC information, we are still unsure of a release date, pricing or just which carrier the NEON300 will be headed to.
