Neuton push mower is emission-free

Everyone wants to go green these days, and while this Neuton push mower doesn’t come with its own array of solar panels in order to stay juiced while you’re sweating it out under the sun in your lawn, at the very least it has 24-volt batteries which are able to run up to an hour on a full charge. The main selling point of Neuton’s push mower is the fact that they’re uncharacteristically silent, so don’t think the device is spoilt once you fire it up in order to give those pesky weeds a lesson. I wonder which emits more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere - the power plant generating power for you to charge up Neuton’s offering, or the fact that this can be modified to be powered by some gas instead.

DXG-569V HD camcorder available for $169

by Paul Miller, posted Apr 28th 2008 at 1:14PM While DXG has few aspirations to taste or quality, they sure know how to price this stuff. The new DXG-569V HD cam can shoot 1280 x 720 video at 30 fps, captures 5 megapixel stills and sports a 3-inch foldout LCD, all for the bargain basement price of $169. Naturally, that video quality probably won’t be putting RED ONE out of a job, and you’ll need to supply your own SD card to make the magic happen, but if that doesn’t dissuade you, you can swipe one from a Radio Shack shelf in silver or black as of today.

SIMable unlocks your mobile

If you’ve been wanting an easier way to unlock your mobile phone then you’ll want to check out the latest gadget put out by 24/7 Mobile Solutions Ltd. It’s called SIMable and the solution consists of an ultra thin chip which can be attached to a SIM card. It is said to be compatible with a majority of mobile handsets including 3G devices.

SIMable works by fooling the mobile phone into thinking that it has been unlocked. The device comes with a manufactured cutting press which allows the user to drill a tiny hole into the SIM card which is required by SIMable. Once the hole is cut then SIMable is simply aligned with the SIM card and inserted into the mobile phone. A PDF document showing how to cut this hole is available online.

The SIMable can be transferred into other phones and used with other SIM cards. The user simply needs to use the manufactured cutting press when using SIMable with a new SIM card. You can pick up SIMable at the company’s website for £16.99.

Read more from the press release.

Brian’s Opinion

Boy, this is a pretty sweet little way to unlock your mobile phone. Best of all, you don’t have to jack with your handset to unlock. You simply cut the small hole into your SIM card and insert it into your phone with the SIM card. That’s not only easy it’s a better way to unlock your mobile phone without invalidating your phone’s warranty.

You also can’t argue with the price of SIMable. The price for the manufactured cutting press and small chip is cheaper than more complicated software solutions which unlock your mobile phone. Best of all, it’s reusable, unlike most phone specific software solutions.

The company does point out that some phones require a slight modification to SIMable in order for it to work. That modification is nothing more than putting a small notch into the SIMable. It really couldn’t be easier to unlock a phone.

Foxconn wins 3G iPhone contract, 3 million units shipping in June?

by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 28th 2008 at 6:59AM var Need more unsubstantiated evidence that the 3G iPhone is near. Good, the Chinese language Commercial Times is quoting sources claiming that Foxconn (aka, Hon Hai) — the maker of the 1st gen iPhone — is ramping up 3G iphone assembly by “the end of May” to ship 3 million units in June. It’s expected to produce some 24-25 million units before the product reaches end of life. If those numbers are true then Apple had better be prepared for a proper global launch without those pesky revenue sharing schemes seen holding back world-wide uptake.

Planex DigiJuke NAS Device

If you’re a heavy torrent user and love storing anything and everything you can get your hands on, then the Planex DigiJuke NAS device ought to be right up your alley. A 1TB system with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity will cost you around $525, with its main selling points being pre-loaded with a tiny browser for searching and tagging favorite YouTube videos as well as torrents for direct downloads onto the DigiJuke. Hopefully MPAA lawyers won’t lobby for an agreement to sneak tracking codes into this device, as we all know just how many clean, honest, anti-piracy torrent users there are out there.

Apple updates iMac as expected

by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 28th 2008 at 8:29AM
Yup, another Apple store outage reveals yet another bump in product specs. This time, it’s the iMac getting the treatment just as Geeksugar and our own sources predicted — on a Monday though instead of Apple’s customary Tuesday morning approach. So what’s new? Well, for starters you’re now looking at the latest Core 2 Duo Penryn processors. For the same starting price of $1,199, you now get a 20-inch iMac with 2.4GHz proc, 128MB of ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics, 1GB of memory and a 250GB 7200RPM disk. The top of the line 24-inch model now sports a 3.06GHz processor, 512MB of NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics, 2GB of memory, and a 320GB 7200rpm disk for $2,199. Rounding out the specs across the lineup are Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802.11n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in iSight cam, and 5x USB 2.0 (which includes the 2x on tethered keyboard) and 1x Firewire 400 and 1x Firewire 800. Same size, same weight and available now… yes, right now.

TG’s 22-inch Lluon all-in-one PC heads to Best Buy

by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 28th 2008 at 3:37AM
TG just announced that this unnamed all-in-one PC is heading for a Stateside retail launch courtesy of Best Buy. There’s not a lot to go on here besides a few pics. Nevertheless, a DVD drive, 2x USB and what appears to be a slot for memory cards, mic and audio jacks, and dedicated multi-media buttons adorning the right-side edge. Around back we find Ethernet, a composite video input, and a few more unidentified jacks which might be Firewire and USB. The big mystery here is the price and availability. Then we’ll know whether this pup can take the legs out from under Dell, Apple, and even Gateway in the US, all-in-one desktop game. Backside-front pictured after the break.
