Lenovo X300 Impressions

I have been running on a Lenovo X300 for a few weeks now.  My previous laptop was a beefy T61p with every bell and whistle.  I was worried about giving up some of these high performance components, especially my 1920×1200 WUXGA 15.4″ screen.

The X300 size is amazing as is the battery life.  It is so small and light, that I find myself bringing it to more meetings and events.  This has resulted in me being more connected and results in more comprehensive meeting notes having my One Note with me more often.  This is my first laptop with an internal WWAN card.  I am surprised how much more I use this having it integrated vs. a card you pop into the Express slot.

The X300 horsepower is not what the T61p is, but it have only noticed it a few times.  I do occasionally miss my larger screen for the real estate of the WUXGA screen.  This is especially true when working is a large spreadsheet or running multiple windows.  That being said, the WSXGA is not bad and works for me 90% of the time.

The only items on my wishlist are a decent docking station, external monitor resolution support in the WUXGA range, and a media card reader.  Those minor things aside, the X300 is a pretty impressive package.  It is the first compact laptop that has worked sucessfully as a desktop replacement for me.
